On March 21, 2020, the IRS issued a notice that they were extending the usual tax filing and payment deadline from April 15 to July 15 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This new date provides taxpayers who owe money a little more time to come up with the necessary funds. It also helps reduce the stress for families who were directly or indirectly affected by the pandemic.
